Mark Carney, former governor of the Bank of Canada and the Bank of England, has become Canada’s new Prime Minister, succeeding Justin Trudeau at a critical time.
The country is in a trade war with the U.S. after President Trump imposed a 25% tariff on Canadian imports, later increasing it to 50%, before reversing the decision hours later.
In response to Trump’s aggressive stance, including suggesting Canada become the 51st U.S. state, Carney wasted no time firing back.
