Police departments in the UK, including West Mercia Police and Norfolk Constabulary, clarified that no such incident happened. West Mercia said they have no officer named Tyler Cooper, and Norfolk noted that they do not even use the title “deputy.”
This type of hoax is common on Facebook. Scammers create emotional posts about missing children, injured people, or animals to gain shares, then later edit the post and replace it with scam links, fake offers, or misleading promotions.
The safest response is to pause before sharing emotional or urgent posts. Check official police pages, trusted news sources, comments, and edit history when possible, because sharing without verifying can spread misinformation, scams, and unnecessary panic.
