For years, no one could say with certainty what happened to Larry Ely Murillo-Moncada, the young man who ran barefoot into a winter storm in Council Bluffs, Iowa. On the evening of November 28, 2009, the 25-year-old left his home in distress after returning from work at a local supermarket.
