In the world of holistic health, some of the strangest techniques are often the most effective.

Some people swear it feels like an exorcism.
One minute, your body is buzzing with invisible static.
The next, it’s quiet.
Not metaphorically—physically quiet.

Dave Setzer didn’t look like a mystic. He looked like what he was: a former U.S. Army engineer who spent years studying “dirty electricity” and its effects on the human body. On stage, he held up not a device, but a roll of ordinary aluminum foil. He explained that our bodies act like antennas, soaking up chaotic electromagnetic fields from Wi‑Fi routers, 5G towers, and power lines, leaving some people wired, anxious, and exhausted.

His “foil cleanse” was disarmingly simple: bare feet on the ground, a sheet of foil shaped to cover the soles, palms, and sometimes the back of the neck, held in place for 10–20 minutes while away from active devices. Many in the room reported a sudden heaviness, then a surprising calm, as if static had drained out. Whether you call it grounding, shielding, or placebo, the ritual’s power may lie in something modern life rarely offers: a deliberate moment to discharge, reset, and listen to your own nervous system again.
