It’s easy to forget how hard the smallest creatures work. Bees are the tiny, buzzing engines of life, pollinating a third of the food we eat and keeping our natural world blooming. But on warm days, these little heroes get exhausted and desperately need water to drink and to cool down their babies in the hive.
The heartbreaking truth? Bees are terrible swimmers. When they try to drink from deep birdbaths or buckets, they easily slip, become exhausted, and drown.
This simple “Bee Boat” is an act of deep kindness. It provides a rough, floating landing pad so they can safely get a drink and find the strength to fly another day. 💛
🛠️ How to make your own:
The base: Find a sturdy bucket or tub and fill it with fresh water.
The boat: Cut an untreated wooden plank to fit inside and drill several holes through it.
The launch: Float the plank on the water. The holes let just enough water surface for them to drink safely without wetting their wings!
Placement: Put it in a quiet spot in your garden near some colorful flowers.
By taking 10 minutes to build this, you are turning a simple bucket into an oasis. Let’s take care of the bees, because they take so much care of us! 🌻💧
