Tragic Plane Crash Claims NASCAR Legend Greg Biffle and Family
A plane crash in North Carolina has killed NASCAR star Greg Biffle, his wife Christina, and their two children, Ryder and Emma. Authorities confirmed that seven people died, including additional passengers Dennis Dutton, his son Jack, and Craig Wadsworth. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Family on a Birthday Trip
The Biffle family was reportedly on a birthday trip in Florida. Christina’s mother, Cathy, spoke to People, revealing the last message she received from her daughter.
“She texted me from the plane and said, ‘We’re in trouble.’ And that was it. We’re devastated. We’re brokenhearted,” Cathy said through tears.
Cathy also shared that Greg and Christina had visited her home just the day before.
“I don’t remember the last words I said to my daughter, Greg, or Ryder. I know we hugged, but those final words will haunt me. But they were happy,” she added.
Friends Confirm the Tragedy
Biffle’s longtime friend Garrett Mitchell, known as Cleetus McFarland, confirmed the news on Facebook.
“Unfortunately, I can confirm Greg Biffle, his wife Cristina, daughter Emma, and son Ryder were on that plane…because they were on their way to spend the afternoon with us. We are devastated. I’m so sorry to share this.”
Eyewitness Account
An eyewitness near Lakewood Golf Club reported that the plane was flying “way too low” before the crash. The aircraft crashed around 10:15 a.m. and immediately caught fire.
The Statesville Regional Airport confirmed the incident in a statement:
“We can confirm there has been an aircraft incident at the Statesville Regional Airport. At approximately 10:15 a.m., an aircraft crashed while landing. The Federal Aviation Administration is en route and will investigate the incident.”
Investigation Underway
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol confirmed the crash but has not released a cause. The FAA is now investigating.
The sudden loss has left friends, family, and fans in shock. Tributes continue to pour in for the Biffle family, who were reportedly on a joyful trip that ended in tragedy.
