Rob Reiner & wife Michele found dead at L.A. home

Legendary director Rob Reiner has been found dead alongside his wife Michele Singer Reiner at their home.

According to TMZ – citing law enforcement sources – their bodies were found on Sunday, December 14 inside their home in Brentwood, California.

The LAPD’s Robbery Homicide Division is currently investigating, while TMZ report that the couple both suffered lacerations consistent with a knife. Dispatch audio captures a firefighter calling for backup to the home around 3:30 PM… though it doesn’t provide any details about what was found in the abode.

A spokesperson for the Reiner family confirmed their deaths on yesterday evening.

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner,” the spokesperson said in a statement. “We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.”

On Sunday, The Screen Actors Guild paid tribute to Reiner, the 78-year-old filmmaker, actor and longtime union member.

LAPD chief detective Alan Hamilton revealed during a press conference that the investigation was ongoing.

At this time, the LAPD is not seeking anyone as a suspect or as a person of interest … and we will not be doing that until we conduct our investigation and we move forward,” Hamilton said.

Reiner and Singer Reiner, 68, met on the set of the iconic romantic comedy When Harry Met Sally and been married since 1989.

Rob — the son of iconic comedian Carl Reiner — began his career in show business as a comedy writer in the 1960s. He worked as Steve Martin’s writing partner on the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour in 1968 and ’69.

He would go on to direct This is Spinal Tap, Stand By Me, The Princess Bride, and the aforementioned When Harry Met Sally.
