DOLLY PARTON BREAKS SILENCE — Video Update Confirms Health Challenges After Skipping Major Award Ceremony

Dolly Parton Addresses Ongoing Health Challenges After Multiple Cancellations This Fall

Dolly Parton has spent more than six decades giving her heart, voice, and energy to fans around the world — but this fall, the 79-year-old country icon was forced to slow down after a series of health issues that left fans understandably worried.

It began on September 17, when Dolly had to cancel her planned appearance at Dollywood for the unveiling of the park’s newest attraction, Night Flight Expedition. The cancellation came suddenly and was later explained to be due to kidney stones that led to an infection.

Weeks later, Dolly made a second, more difficult announcement: her upcoming Las Vegas residency would need to be postponed. In a heartfelt message shared directly with fans, she explained that her doctors advised her to undergo “a few procedures,” and that she wouldn’t be able to rehearse or perform the way she expects of herself — or the way she believes her fans deserve.

“I want the fans and public to hear directly from me,” she wrote. “I’ve been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures. As I joked with them, it must be time for my hundred thousand mile checkup — although it’s not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon!”

Even through humor, her message carried seriousness. Dolly emphasized that she wasn’t going anywhere — but that God was calling her to slow down and prioritize her wellbeing. “You pay good money to see me perform, and I want to be at my best for you,” she said.

Concerns grew even stronger after Dolly’s sister, Freida, shared an emotional message online. But in classic Dolly fashion, the legend herself quickly stepped forward to clear the air. Posting a video on October 8, she smiled into the camera and asked with a wink, “Do I look sick to you?” She went on to reassure everyone that while she had been feeling run down — especially after losing her husband, Carl, earlier this year — it was “nothing major.”

Still, her doctors remained firm: rest was non-negotiable. This week, Dolly released another video message, explaining why she couldn’t attend her November 17 induction into the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions’ Hall of Fame. Though deeply honored, she shared that her medical team urged her not to travel or exert herself.

I sure wish I could be with you in person today,” she said. “But you probably heard I’ve been dealing with a few health challenges this fall, and my doctors told me to take it easy for just a little while. I’m truly sorry I can’t be there, but I wanted to say thank you for this incredible honor.”

Despite everything, Dolly looked radiant — smiling, composed, and full of the warmth fans have loved for decades. Her message brought relief to many who feared the worst, and her transparency has only deepened the affection people feel for her.

As she continues to rest and recover, one thing is certain: the world is rooting for Dolly Parton. And when she does return to the stage, it will be with the same heart, grace, and sparkle that have made her one of the most beloved entertainers of all time.
