In a moment of hope that quickly turned haunting, two of the 27 girls missing from Camp Mystic, Texas, have been found alive — hidden deep inside a sewer tunnel nearly 2 kilometers from the original flood zone.

Emergency crews were alerted after K9 units picked up a strong scent trail near an abandoned utility road. When they opened a partially sealed manhole, they were stunned to hear a faint knocking sound echoing from below.

Moments later, they found the two girls — aged 9 and 11 — curled together in near darkness, cold, dehydrated, and terrified but alive.

But what chilled responders even more were the first words one of the girls whispered after being pulled out:

He told us not to tell anyone where we are… it’s located at—”

The girl reportedly stopped mid-sentence as if remembering a warning. She then turned to the other girl and burst into tears.

That moment changed everything,” said paramedic Erin McClain. “This wasn’t just a flood survival. These girls were hiding — and they were told to.”

Authorities have now classified the area as a potential crime scene, and the investigation has taken a dramatic new turn: Was someone deliberately keeping the girls hidden?

Inside the tunnel, police found signs the girls had been there for days:

Torn pieces of a camp towel used as bedding
A nearly empty bottle of water

And disturbingly, scratches on the wall forming a set of tally marks — possibly tracking days spent underground.
FBI agents are now interrogating camp staff, local utility workers, and reviewing area surveillance footage for any trace of who “he” might be.

The flood may have separated them,” said Lt. Darren Cole, “but something — or someone — made sure they stayed undiscovered.”

The two girls are now under medical and psychological care. They have not yet provided full statements, but child trauma specialists are working closely with them in hopes of unlocking more information.

As of this update, 14 girls remain unaccounted for. But the words “He told us not to tell” have cast a dark new shadow over this already devastating case.

This story is developing.
