Two confirmed d.ead as

Two people died after a mid-air collision between a Cessna 172S and a Lancair 360 MK II at Marana Regional Airport, Arizona, around 8:30 a.m. The crash left one plane burning near the runway, while the other landed safely.

The two occupants of the landed aircraft were unharmed.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) confirmed the fatalities and is investigating. Marana Regional Airport, which lacks an air traffic control tower, is temporarily closed.

Officials extended condolences and thanked first responders.

The airport is part of the FAA’s Air Traffic Control Tower Program, which could lead to future safety improvements.
