“This is the opportunity of my life,” she says, “to chase my biggest dream, which is doing music for the rest of my life.”

The violinist, who was born in Quebec, then joins the stage. She starts off with a soft solo. Supermodel Heidi Klum, comedian Howie Mandell, and Sofia Vergara of Modern Family all watched in awe.

Simon Cowell’s palm hovers over the dreaded red buzzer button, though, as his focus starts to go.

Then, a plot twist! Gabriella starts singing. As she starts singing a rewritten version of James Blunt’s 2000s hit song “Goodbye, My Lover,” Cowell instantly takes his hand away.

Everyone in the theater, including Cowell, gives her a standing ovation for her “angelic” performance. She is unanimously advanced to the next round by the judges.

We’ll have to wait a little while before we discover Gabriella’s AGT fate. She appeared in episode eight, the last round of auditions.

Over the course of that show and the seven previous episodes, the panel said “yes” to over 150 acts. However, there is only room for 36 acts in the live shows.

The series is now taking a three-week break for the Olympics. The chosen finalists will only be revealed upon their return.
