The identity of the mutilated remains discovered in singer D4vd’s Tesla has been confirmed. Last Monday, the 20-year-old pop star’s impounded Tesla was found to contain a decaying body in its trunk. Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department made the grim discovery after receiving complaints about a foul odor coming from the vehicle.
According to TMZ, the victim has been identified by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner. ABC7 Los Angeles reported on Tuesday that the body belongs to a teenage girl estimated to be between 14 and 15 years old. Authorities have not released her name, as her lawful next of kin have not yet been notified.
Police described the victim as a 5’1” woman weighing 71 pounds, with black hair and a tattoo on her right index finger that reads “Shhh…” She was found wearing black leggings, a tube top, a metal stud earring, and a metal bracelet shaped like the letter “W,” according to TMZ.
D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, was informed by police that his Tesla was stored in an impound lot under disturbing conditions. A spokesperson for the singer told NBC Los Angeles, “D4vd has been informed about what’s happened. Although he is currently on tour, he is fully cooperating with the authorities.” The artist, known for hits like “Here with Me” and “Romantic Homicide,” may have lent his Tesla to someone, but it remains unclear whether the car was stolen.
Police reported that the body was placed in a bag inside the car’s front trunk after the vehicle had been at the impound yard for several days.
ABC7 captured footage of police investigating around the vehicle before it was towed away. Before being impounded, the Tesla was abandoned in the Hollywood Hills and had Texas license plates. D4vd is currently on a global tour, with scheduled stops across Europe next month. After making his Coachella debut earlier this year, he appeared as a musical guest on Stephen Colbert’s The Late Show.
Just days before the Tesla incident, he promoted the deluxe edition of his debut album Withered. On September 7, he wrote to his 2.1 million Instagram followers, “Withered Deluxe: Marcescence OUT SEPTEMBER 19TH!!! Every song written exclusively by me on my phone baby, this is a passion project I put together to make sure I didn’t lose the raw emotional weight my music carries and how much it means to u all.”
He added, “Thank you to all the friends who collaborated with me on this. Everyone ATE THEIR VERSES UP ❤️❤️❤️.”
Since then, D4vd has not posted any new content on his Instagram grid.
