Many people aren’t prepared for the responsibility of caring for a disabled pet, and sadly, this often leads to heartbreaking abandonment. That was the case for Lunetta, a sweet paralyzed dog left helplessly chained to a railing in the streets of Salta, Argentina.
A staff member from a local animal care center spotted her—frail, hungry, and strapped to a rusty, broken wheelchair. Next to her was a bag of diapers and a note explaining her name, age, and the devastating message: her former owners could no longer care for her.
The rescue group LUBA Salta was contacted immediately. Two volunteers rushed to the scene and brought Lunetta to safety. Her story was soon shared on Facebook, hoping someone would be willing to open their heart to a dog with special needs.
An American family quickly stepped forward, offering to adopt her. At first, it seemed like a dream come true—but they underestimated the level of care Lunetta required. Without proper attention, she developed a dangerous staph infection, and her health rapidly declined.
Just when it seemed all hope was lost again, another American family stepped in. They were experienced, compassionate, and fully committed. With the right medical care and unconditional love, Lunetta made a remarkable recovery.
