My grandparents came to talk to my parents about a “adult issue” when I was a child, and we never communicated with them again.

I had no idea what had transpired. Years later, I discovered a cousin on Facebook, and we met for coffee.

I realized that the reason we no longer spoke was because my mother acquired a slew of credit cards and accumulated debt in my grandmother

name that she had no intention of repaying. My cousin and I kept it between ourselves, and she has no idea I know.

I went to school with him. Served him sandwiches when I worked at the local deli. Probably we’ve crossed paths thousands of times before we found out.We got to know each other and he’s pretty awesome. It’s too bad we didn’t get to grow up together as brother and sister since we live in the same town.
