Zamora, Spain – 7 July 2025-The world of football is still in mourning for the tragic death of the Liverpool star Fc Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva in a terrible road accident on July 3, 2025, in the north-west of Spain. New details have emerged from the investigation, including the shocking data of the black box of the Lamborghini Huracán on which they traveled, which shed light on the terrifying moments that preceded the accident. The data reveal that the vehicle traveled to the amazing speed of 213 km/h (132 mph) just three seconds before the fatal accident, pushing the supercar to the limit and raising serious questions about the role of speed in the tragedy.
The tragic accident
The accident occurred around 00:30 local time on the A-52 motorway near Cernadilla, in the province of Zamora, near the border between Spain and Portugal. Jota, 28 years old, and his brother André Silva, 25 years old, a professional Penafiel footballer, Portuguese second division club, were headed to Santander to take a ferry to return to the United Kingdom. According to reports, Jota had been not recommended to fly due to a recent surgery to the lungs, and this prompted the brothers to take the 10 -hour trip from Porto to Santander aboard a Lamborghini Huracán Evo Spyder Verde, a high -performance car capable of reaching speeds up to 325 km/h (200 mph).
According to the Spanish Civil Guard, the accident was caused by the outbreak of a tire while the vehicle was overtaking another car on the A-52. Lamborghini left the road, turned upside down and caught fire, setting fire to the surrounding vegetation. Rescue intervened promptly, but they were unable to save the brothers, who were declared dead on the spot. The intense fire made the vehicle almost unrecognizable, forcing the authorities to be based on documents, including the car’s plaque, and on DNA tests to confirm Jota and Silva’s identity.
