Woman Thought Pretending to Be Someone’s Girlfriend at a Wedding Would Be Fun Until She Wished She Hadn’t

I should’ve known better. Who agrees to be a fake date for a complete stranger they met in a **hotel elevator**? Me, apparently.

It all started when I was rushing to meet a friend for dinner. I was tapping my foot impatiently when the elevator stalled. **Perfect.** Just what I needed. But then, I noticed the man stuck with me—**tall, handsome, and far too calm about the situation.

You okay?”* he asked.

*”Not really. Kind of in a rush here.”*

*”I get it. But hey, look on the bright side—we’re not plummeting to our deaths, so that’s a win, right?”*

I laughed despite myself.

Then, completely out of nowhere, he hit me with **the offer.**

*”I’m going to a wedding tomorrow, and I don’t have a date. Want to be my fake date?”*

Excuse me, what now?

He explained his situation—his ex would be there, and he wanted to avoid **the dreaded singles’ table humiliation.** I had a million reasons to say no. But against all logic, I **said yes.**

### **The Wedding Day**

The venue was breathtaking, and I felt like I had just walked into a real-life rom-com. But I couldn’t shake the feeling that people were **watching us.** Almost like they knew our secret.

And then, the real disaster struck.

A woman—**drop-dead gorgeous, all legs, confidence, and high heels—**made a beeline for us.

Dylan stiffened beside me and leaned in. *”Oh. And there’s my ex.”*

**Oh no.**

She stopped right in front of us, her sharp gaze locked onto mine.

*”So… Dylan,”* she purred. *”A new girlfriend already?”*

I **should’ve** played it cool. But my brain went into full panic mode, and I **blurted out the worst possible thing.**

*”Actually, we’re engaged.”*

**What. The. Hell. Did I just say?**

Dylan choked on his drink. His ex’s eyes widened. And suddenly, **all eyes were on us.**
