But few transformations are as dramatic as the one Rosa Ramirez experienced after keeping the same hairstyle for 25 years. For more than two decades, she let her hair grow untouched \u2014 so long, in fact, that she could accidentally step on it while walking. Although her husband gently encouraged her to consider a haircut over the years, Rosa hesitated. Her hair had become part of who she was.

By the time she finally decided to make the change, Rosa\u2019s hair measured nearly 1.5 meters (about five feet) in length. But she wasn\u2019t cutting it just for herself. Rosa chose to donate over four feet of her hair to Locks of Love, a nonprofit organization that creates wigs for children who have lost their hair due to cancer and other illnesses.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think it would make somebody\u2019s day who\u2019s suffering from a bad disease,\u201d Rosa said. \u201cIt will make their day a little brighter.\u201d The result was a stunning transformation \u2014 not just in appearance, but in purpose.
