The search for Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of NBC\u2019s Savannah Guthrie, took a chilling new turn last week when a local couple in Tucson stumbled across what looked like blood-stained gloves in the desert.<\/p>\n
This happened back on February 11, less than a mile from her neighborhood around Campbell Avenue in the Catalina Foothills area. The couple, who wanted to stay anonymous, were out driving or walking when they spotted the first item\u2014a black glove lying in the dirt. It seemed ripped in places, and to them, it had what appeared to be blood, especially noticeable around the wrist and on the pointer finger.<\/p>\n
The wife later told reporters it honestly looked like something investigators might have been hunting for in this case.<\/p>\n
Just about 10 feet away, they found a second glove that matched the first. Under one of them, the husband noticed a rock with what seemed like a dried blood drop on it. They were smart not to touch anything\u2014worried about incoming rain washing evidence away, they called the sheriff\u2019s department right away and even dialed 911 to make sure it got handled quickly.<\/p>\n
Deputies showed up, talked to them, and stayed on scene until around 2 a.m. to secure everything.<\/p>\n
The Pima County Sheriff\u2019s Department hasn\u2019t given full details on these specific gloves yet, but they did say investigators have picked up several gloves from the surrounding desert over the course of the search. Forensic tests are still underway on what they\u2019ve collected.<\/p>\n

\nNo one\u2019s saying for sure if these are connected to the night Nancy vanished on January 31, but the case has always pointed toward possible foul play\u2014authorities haven\u2019t ruled out that more than one person could be involved. A masked suspect was caught on doorbell video that night, wearing similar dark gloves, which has kept everyone focused on these kinds of finds.<\/p>\n
The FBI is still pushing hard for tips\u2014call 1-800-CALL-FBI anytime, or submit online. There\u2019s a reward of up to $100,000 from them for info that leads to finding her or catching whoever\u2019s responsible. Another $202,500 is being offered through 88-CRIME.<\/p>\n
The sheriff\u2019s tip line has been slammed, with over 32,000 calls in the first couple of weeks of February alone\u2014way more than usual. Officials are asking folks to hold off unless it\u2019s something solid so real emergencies don\u2019t get buried.<\/p>\n
