\nJust last month, my sister-in-law Jessica decided to host a \u201cfamily bonding\u201d vacation. She picked a lake house, claiming there was plenty of room for everyone. The price? $500 per person\u2014which we all paid… except for Jessica, naturally.
\nRight before the trip, my son came down with something, so I had to stay back. But my mom had already arrived. The next morning, I FaceTimed her\u2014and I instantly knew something was off.

\nThen I noticed where she was sleeping: on a thin camping mat, right there in the hallway, next to a broom closet. No pillow. No door. No privacy.
