Facing Osteoporosis Head-On
\nBefore turning 60 in 2005, Field received a diagnosis of osteoporosis, a \u201csilent disease\u201d that weakens bones. She explained, \u201cI was thin, small-boned, Caucasian, and heading toward 60. But I was amazed at how quickly I could go from at risk to full-fledged osteoporosis.\u201d<\/p>\n
Despite a healthy diet, regular biking, extreme yoga, and hiking, she couldn\u2019t avoid the condition. To treat it, she participated in a drug experiment using Boniva, designed to slow bone loss and support natural bone growth.<\/p>\n
