Jenna Bush Hager, host of Today with Jenna & Friends, gave viewers a peek into her family life. She revealed that her father, former President George W. Bush, doesn\u2019t actually watch her show.<\/p>\n

Why We Might Not See Him On the Show<\/p>\n
Since Hoda Kotb left Today in January, Jenna has welcomed a rotating roster of guest co-hosts. Meanwhile, her dad recently appeared virtually on Peyton and Eli Manning\u2019s ManningCast. Despite this Zoom cameo, he has yet to co-host his daughter\u2019s morning show.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve actually asked him,\u201d Jenna said. \u201cMaybe I\u2019ll do a public ask for him to come and be a \u2018friend\u2019 since he\u2019s my father.\u201d<\/p>\n
Her co-hosts reminded her that George W. Bush rarely appears on television. Jenna responded, \u201cWell, he said he was retired, so I was surprised as anyone to see him Monday night.\u201d<\/p>\n
Savannah Guthrie added that he didn\u2019t have to leave home for the ManningCast appearance. But to join Today with Jenna & Friends, he\u2019d need to travel to New York.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhy don\u2019t you go to Texas and do the show from there?\u201d Al Roker joked.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t think we have that kind of budget,\u201d Jenna replied. Craig Melvin quipped, \u201cI feel like for a former president, we could find it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Family Humor Shines<\/p>\n
Despite George W. Bush declining to appear, Jenna has welcomed plenty of family members on the show. Her husband, Henry Hager, twin sister Barbara Bush Pierce, and numerous cousins have all joined her segments.<\/p>\n
In March, her mother, former First Lady Laura Bush, appeared in a special sit-down. In 2018, Jenna interviewed both her father and grandfather, George H.W. Bush.<\/p>\n
Back in 2021, President Bush joined Today with Hoda & Jenna for a discussion on immigration. \u201cMom and I are very proud of your independent views,\u201d he told her. \u201cYou take time to understand issues, and you\u2019re not afraid to speak your mind.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sharing Family Moments<\/p>\n
Jenna often shares family stories with the public. In October, she recounted a Christmas Eve dinner that brought her mom to tears.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy dad was like, \u2018You a\u2013holes!\u2019\u201d she said. \u201cWe couldn\u2019t believe it. Then he added, \u2018Your mom\u2019s going through menopause; go and apologize.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
When Hoda Kotb left the show, George W. Bush offered support. Jenna recalled calling him, worried about the transition. \u201cHe first thought something awful had happened because I sounded so emotional,\u201d she said. \u201cThen he told me, \u2018Oh, she\u2019s leaving because it\u2019s time, and you\u2019re gonna be fine. It\u2019s your turn. It\u2019s okay.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
