A Texas State University student is facing intense backlash after he was caught on video reenacting the assassination of Charlie Kirk during a memorial service on campus. The disturbing display has prompted calls for his immediate expulsion, including from Texas Governor Greg Abbott.<\/p>\n
The video, widely circulated on social media, shows the unidentified student mocking Kirk\u2019s fatal shooting in front of stunned mourners at Monday\u2019s memorial hosted by Turning Point USA.<\/p>\n
Eyewitness footage captures the young man repeatedly slapping his neck while shouting, \u201cCharlie Kirk got hit in the neck, b**h.\u201d* He then shook his body violently as if recoiling from a gunshot, before spitting on the ground near attendees.<\/p>\n
At one point, he climbed onto a statue, repeated the imitation, and then collapsed theatrically. As he walked away, he was heard shouting a racial slur: \u201cF** that n*****.\u201d*<\/p>\n
The crowd of TPUSA members and students stood in stunned silence as the scene unfolded.<\/p>\n
Governor Abbott Demands Action<\/p>\n
Governor Greg Abbott condemned the incident after sharing the video on his X account. \u201cMocking assassination must have consequences. Expel this student immediately,\u201d Abbott wrote<\/p>\n
Texas State University President Dr. Kelly Damphousse confirmed officials are investigating. \u201cBehavior that trivializes or promotes violence is reprehensible and violates the values of TXST. It will not be tolerated,\u201d he said in a statement. \u201cIf this individual is found to be affiliated with TXST, appropriate action will be taken.\u201d<\/p>\n
A Pattern of Disrespect<\/p>\n
The San Marcos incident comes just days after another Texas student was filmed mocking Kirk\u2019s killing during a vigil nearly 400 miles away at Texas Tech University.<\/p>\n
In that case, 18-year-old Camryn Giselle Booker was caught on video jumping and chanting, \u201cF** y\u2019all homie dead, he got shot in the head,\u201d* while students held a candlelight vigil. Booker allegedly confronted another student, Cameron Payne, who held a sign reading \u201cRest in peace Charlie Kirk.\u201d Witnesses say she slapped his hat before police intervened.<\/p>\n
Booker was arrested for simple assault and later expelled from Texas Tech \u2014 a decision Abbott publicly praised.<\/p>\n
Mourning Amid Political Tensions<\/p>\n
Charlie Kirk, the 31-year-old founder of Turning Point USA, was gunned down on September 10 while speaking at Utah Valley University. His suspected assassin, Tyler Robinson, 22, allegedly fired from a rooftop, striking Kirk in the neck before fleeing.<\/p>\n
Robinson was arrested two days later and now faces a murder charge and could face the death penalty if convicted. Additional charges include obstruction of justice and felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily injury.<\/p>\n
