\u201cI called my wife, Hilary, and said, \u2018You won\u2019t believe this. I\u2019ve just been nominated for an Oscar,\u2019\u201d Greene recalled. \u201cTwo minutes later, the phone started ringing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Before acting, Greene worked as a carpenter, welder, civil technologist, steelworker, and even as part of a rock band crew. His stage work in the UK during the 1970s helped him build discipline and craft, which he later credited as essential to his film career.<\/p>\n

Greene d**d on September 1 in Stratford, Ontario, after a long illness. His manager later confirmed the d**th was due to natural causes.
