Jason Aldean Fulfills Promise to 13-Year-Old Cancer Warrior DJ Daniel With Houston Concert Appearance<\/p>\n
Jason Aldean delivered on a heartfelt promise during his FULL THROTTLE Tour stop in Houston on Friday, August 15, when he invited 13-year-old Devarje \u201cDJ\u201d Daniel on stage. DJ, who has been battling brain and spinal cancer since 2018, first reached out to Aldean earlier this summer through a TikTok video asking if the star could help him put together a concert to raise money for kids with cancer.<\/p>\n

The video went viral, catching the attention of both Aldean and Darius Rucker, who responded with a joint message assuring DJ that they had seen his request and wanted to meet him. True to his word, Aldean welcomed DJ, his father Theodis, and representatives from the nonprofit Heroes for Children to the stage in Texas, telling fans, \u201cI spent a few hours with this guy today, and when I tell you he\u2019s a kid that will brighten your day up, I\u2019m not kidding.\u201d<\/p>\n
That night, Aldean also announced that\u2014with the help of Patriot Mobile and the Houston Astros\u2014he was presenting a check for more than $200,000 to Heroes for Children, an organization dedicated to supporting families facing childhood cancer. Aldean embraced DJ on stage and called him \u201can inspiration to everybody,\u201d before telling him, \u201cWe love you, man. We\u2019re gonna stay in touch. We\u2019re buddies now, right?\u201d<\/p>\n
In true showman fashion, DJ didn\u2019t leave without making the audience laugh. Taking the mic, he cracked, \u201cAre y\u2019all parking tickets? \u2019Cause I heard y\u2019all got hella fine written all over you,\u201d sparking cheers from the Houston crowd.<\/p>\n
Earlier that day, Aldean and DJ bonded over mini golf at a Heroes for Children event at Puttshack, where kids battling cancer also had the chance to meet Houston Astros legends Roger Clemens and Jeff Bagwell. Aldean\u2019s efforts gave families access to batting practice, meet-and-greets with players, and free tickets to a future game.<\/p>\n
DJ, who dreams of becoming a police officer, has already been sworn in by more than 1,300 law enforcement agencies across the country and was even named an honorary Secret Service agent during Donald Trump\u2019s presidency. Despite undergoing 13 brain surgeries and being given only months to live as a child, he continues to defy the odds.<\/p>\n
His father recently shared that doctors discovered three new tumors in May, but DJ\u2019s spirit remains unshaken. \u201cWe\u2019re just going around showing people, \u2018Hey, you do care for one another. Let\u2019s give compassion and let\u2019s try to join and help each other get through things,\u2019\u201d DJ told FOX 7.<\/p>\n
The White House also acknowledged his resilience, posting on X: \u201cAgent Daniel, you\u2019re a true legend.\u201d<\/p>\n
