Dean Cain, who played Superman on Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, says he is joining U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to back Donald Trump\u2019s anti-immigration policies. It comes at a time when ICE has been in the spotlight more than usual, with a lot of talk about raids and deportations.<\/p>\n
This all started after Cain put a recruitment video from ICE on his Instagram. Then Jesse Watters mentioned it on Fox News, which Cain said really made things blow up.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cI\u2019m actually a sworn deputy sheriff and a reserve police officer \u2013 I wasn\u2019t part of ICE, but once I put that out there and you put a little blurb on your show, it went crazy. So now I\u2019ve spoken with some officials over at ICE, and I will be sworn in as an ICE agent, ASAP.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis country was built on patriots stepping up, whether it was popular or not, and doing the right thing. I truly believe this is the right thing.\u201d He also said: \u201cWe have a broken immigration system. Congress needs to fix it, but in the interim, President Trump ran on this.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe is delivering on this. This is what people voted for. It\u2019s what I voted for and he\u2019s going to see it through, and I\u2019ll do my part and help make sure it happens.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m stepping up. Hopefully, a whole bunch of other former officers, former ICE agents, will step up and we\u2019ll meet those recruitment goals immediately, and we\u2019ll help protect this country.\u201d<\/p>\n
ICE has been arresting more people lately, about 3,000 a day after Trump\u2019s re-election. That includes undocumented immigrants but also some who have legal status and even citizens.<\/p>\n
There have been protests, and some people who tried to film ICE making arrests have ended up in jail. Cain said he thinks keeping the country secure is more important than those protests.<\/p>\n
He also has been talking about Hollywood, saying the latest Superman movie is \u201cwoke\u201d and that other characters are being changed too much.<\/p>\n
When talking with the media, Cain said: \u201cHow woke is Hollywood going to make this character? How much is Disney going to change their Snow White? Why are they going to change these characters [to] exist for the times?<\/p>\n
\u201cWe know Superman is an immigrant \u2013 he\u2019s a freaking alien \u2026 The \u2018American way\u2019 is immigrant friendly, tremendously immigrant friendly. But there are rules \u2026 There have to be limits, because we can\u2019t have everybody in the United States. We can\u2019t have everybody, society will fail. So there have to be limits.\u201d<\/p>\n
Cain\u2019s decision to join ICE lines him up with Trump\u2019s tough stance on immigration. What happens when he actually starts the job is still to be seen, but people will be watching.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
