A Biden-appointed U.S. attorney, who resigned on President Donald Trump\u2019s first day in office, had been battling epilepsy before she passed away in her sleep, her family disclosed this week.<\/p>\n
Jessica Aber, 43, formerly the top prosecutor in Virginia\u2019s Eastern District, was found unresponsive at her Washington, D.C. home on Saturday. Police indicated that she most likely died of natural causes, noting that she had \u201ca longstanding medical issue,<\/p>\n
Aber\u2019s case will remain open until the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of Virginia determines the manner and cause of her death.<\/p>\n
Although fatal epileptic seizures\u2014referred to as Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy\u2014are rare, they pose a significant risk for individuals with the disorder, often occurring while the victims are asleep, as was the case with Aber.<\/p>\n
In a statement, Aber\u2019s family said they \u201cexpect more information from the medical examiner in the coming weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n
